Calling all amateur musicians in East London
Come and participate in our second Water City Festival Orchestra in a Weekend.
Play alongside some truly inspirational players including our student music mentors and
musicians from the Royal Opera House Orchestra and the Grand Union Orchestra.
The project takes place in the unique setting of Trinity Buoy Wharf on the banks of the Thames
from Friday 1 to Sunday 3 April 2011 with a string sectional on Sunday 20 March (2.00-5.00pm).
Enjoy a Feast of Music
‘Starter’
To build on Water City Festival Orchestra’s successful launch last October
and bring together 50 enthusiastic amateur musicians (past members and new ones alike)
who mainly live and/or work in East London to create our second Orchestra in a Weekend.
‘Main Course’
To rehearse:
Vivaldi The Four Seasons (Allegro from ‘Spring’)
Bizet Carmen (excerpts from opera)
Haynes Bengal Bhangra and Blues
Gershwin An American in Paris.
‘Dessert’
To present an informal performance at the end of the weekend for family and friends
(while making new friends and having a lot of fun along the way!)
Water City Festival Orchestra in a Weekend
is recruiting amateur musicians including string, wind (and saxophones), brass, timpani, percussion, celeste and harp. If you are 15 years old or over,
play your instrument to the equivalent of Grade 5 or above
and are interested in meeting up to make music, join up NOW!
